The term " SANSKRIT EFFECT" Was coined by german neuroscientist Dr.James Hartzell.
Dr.James spent many years of life in studying sanskrit and translating indian vedic sanskrit literature,he Came with a hypothesis that reading, memorising and reciting sanskrit mantras may enhance memory and thinking.

to test this hypothesis he teamed with Dr.Tanmay Nath and Dr.Nandini Chatterjee from National Brain Research Center ,Haryana.
To test this hypothesis they undertook a experiment where 21 well sanskrit versed scholars around age 21 were selected and group of 21 students from near by college of same age were enrolled for this study as controlled group.
The experiment was to do MRI Brain i.e magnetic imaging of brains of the participants involved, this experiment was carried on all 42 participants ,this method allows the study size and shape of the brain and individuals part of brain, the findings were astonishing.
The brain has a grey matter which has functions to do with decision making, memory.sensory perception, emotion and speech.the white matter has bundle of nerve cells which are connected to grey matter and carry signal to it.The hipocampus region is particularly associated with long term and short term memory.
The results showed that the sanskrit versed pandits had denser white matter and cortex thicker and the hippocampus region which was associated with long term and short term memory was well developed than the control group students.
This means the sanskrit training from early days had made this changes in brain which are going to stay for long time .It means that the power of memory, decision making, sensory perception would last longer in those who were trained earlier.
Many schools in germany have made sanskrit as compulsory language in their learning curriculum. So lets start teaching our kids sanskrit and make them recit it .
